The i-approve® application is installed on each Android-based device. After installing i-approve® on a device, the application prompts you to designate the device as either a parent or child device.

A parent device receives administrator-level access to the application. A child device receives a lower access level, as only a parent device can adjust the account settings.

Not at all. i-approve® typically takes just minutes to install. In addition, the app automatically walks you through the set-up process.

Should you run into any difficulty, step-by-step instructions are found on the Start Now page of our website. Plus, the friendly and knowledgeable i-approve® support team is always available to assist. You can reach them here.

Yes. You need to download and install the i-approve® app on your child’s device. Please visit the start now page of our website for easy-to-follow installation instructions.

No. i-approve® does not require you to root your child’s Android phone. Be wary of any app asking you to do so, as rooting phones can void warranties and negate terms of service.

Google's Operating System (Android) allows for parents to mark the app as hidden; however, on installation there will be an icon indicating the app is installed. Additionally, when the i-approve® app starts, there will be an i-approve® splash screen for the first release.

Instead of attempting to install i-approve® without your child's knowledge, we recommend you start a conversation with your child about digital health and safety prior to the app’s installation. Also, there are a wealth of app features of which your child will likely want to take advantage.

For your protection (to confirm that it's really you and not your child asking this), please send an email to support@i-approve.com with your name, phone number, and the subject heading DELETE CHILD, and we will contact you for verification and to provide the next steps.

Possibly, but we made it very difficult for a child to find and delete the i-approve® app. However, should the app ever get deleted, a notification will be automatically sent to the parental administrator on the account.

i-approve® is available only on Android mobile phones and tablets at the current time. You may download the app via the Google Play store.

i-approve® is the only Android monitoring app with state-of-the-art A.I. able to scan and rate image and video content in real time based on age appropriateness. In addition, i-approve® regulates device usage. This makes i-approve® one of the most comprehensive solutions for digital parenting.

i-approve® supports Android 5.1 and higher.

There are three different subscription packages available. Please visit the i-approve® pricing page for complete details.

Absolutely not. i-approve® installation is free for all parent devices. You can install the app on more than one parent device without paying a dime.

Alerts may be sent to all devices configured as parent devices. One parent, the designated parental administrator, registers all other parent devices and manages all settings for the associated child and parent devices.

No. i-approve® does not presently support this functionality.

There are three subscription options available:

  • Small family – Up to 2 child devices
  • Medium family – 3 to 6 child devices
  • Large family – 7 to 15 child devices

Visit the i-approve® pricing page for additional details.

It depends on your current subscription package. Please see the i-approve® pricing page for more information.

After installing the i-approve® app on all applicable devices, simply use your parent account to assign each device accordingly based on the child’s name. You may also name each device uniquely. For example, you could name a child’s phone “Sally’s Samsung S6” and tablet “Sally’s Verizon Ellipsis.”

It depends on your current subscription package. For example:

  • Small family – 1 child with 2 devices -or- 2 children each with 1 device
  • Medium family – 1 child with 3 to 6 devices -or- any combination of children and devices that total up to 6
  • Large family – 1 child with 7 to 15 devices -or- any combination of children and devices that total up to 15

Yes. You can change or cancel your i-approve® subscription package at any time. However, we strongly recommend you consult with i-approve® support prior to cancellation, so our team of experts can help resolve any issue.

No. Your account information is encrypted and stored on our secure servers. Simply redownload the i-approve® app and login with your username and password.

Visit the app settings in your parent device to change your password.

From the main login screen, select “Forgot Password.”

Yes. i-approve® uses fully encrypted payment gateways to ensure the safety of all credit card transactions. In addition, because i-approve® is so passionate about safeguarding sensitive information, an extra layer of patent-pending encryption security is applied for advanced protection.

i-approve® uses advanced artificial intelligence (A.I.) technology to scan images and videos in real time. The content is then rated according to age appropriateness and analyzed per the settings established by an associated parent device.

The content rating system is divided by five age ranges: ages 3-6, ages 7-9, ages 10-12, ages 13-15, and ages 16-17. Content analysis for each age range can be customized to focus on any or all of the following six categories: pornography, drugs and drug paraphernalia, weapons, terrorist acts and symbols, gore and violence, and lingerie and swimsuits. There is also a sliding sensitivity scale, allowing a parent device to finetune the depth of analysis.

No technology is perfect, but i-approve® comes close. Please refer to our information page for the current algorithm detection rates by category. However, the app is merely a tool to help parents get involved in their kids’ digital lives. It is not a replacement for parental involvement.

A false positive is any analyzed image or video that is flagged as inappropriate, but ultimately deemed not to contain inappropriate content. We would rather err on the side of sometimes sending a false positive image than not.

While i-approve® is very effective, there is no guarantee that the app will catch any and all inappropriate content. An example of a false positive might be a photo of a work of art like The Statue of David.

Yes. When i-approve® sends an image or video for parental review, the image or video in question is provided along with the name of the child’s device and a date- and time-stamped filename of the suspicious item detected.

Approve or deny the image or video, and then start a conversation with your child. i-approve® provides resources to assist you in discussing sensitive topics with your kids. Please refer to the FAQ/Help section of the app and to the education section of this website.

No, but i-approve® does block the use of the image or video by encrypting the suspicious item and quarantining the file in inaccessible storage until a parent or guardian reviews and approves the content.

i-approve® blocks the use of any image or video containing inappropriate content by encrypting the suspicious item and quarantining the file in inaccessible storage. If a parent device approves the use of the image or video in question, the file is restored for use on the child device. However, if a parent device denies the use of the image or video, the file is deleted from the child device forever.

No. i-approve® cannot track what occurred prior to the installation of the app.

However, there is a feature in the works to allow a parent or guardian to perform a one-time scan of all images and videos that existed on the device prior the app installation date. Sign up for our email updates and follow us on social media to be among the first to know about the release of this feature.

Not exactly. i-approve® detects and scans images and videos saved to your child’s device. If an app receives images or videos in an unencrypted manner and your child saves those images or videos to his/her device, then i-approve® will detect and scan those image and video files.

No. i-approve® does not monitor parent devices.

Not yet, but i-approve® for the web is currently in development. Sign up for our email updates and follow us on social media to be among the first to know about its release.

Images and videos sent for parental review are encrypted and stored on our secure servers. This gives parents and guardians the ability to review the images and videos at their convenience.

The parental administrator establishes the storage time limit. Please read our privacy policy for more information and check out our terms and conditions.

Very. All data is encrypted and secured in accordance with industry best practices. On the connection between the API caller and our endpoint, we use SHA-2 and 2048-bit encryption – the strongest on the market. Data encryption is server-side and sent as a URL. It is never saved or loaded in memory, and it is deleted after processing. All processing is done in a local temp storage in a secured AWS EC2 instance, accessible only within our subnetwork.

We work hand-in-hand with experts in the security industry, continually looking for ways to improve data protection. In addition, we always strive to act in accordance with the relevant US, UK, and EU legislation.

You can rest easy knowing your data is well protected. For more details, please read our privacy policy and see our terms and conditions.
